Dr Richard Chambers, BA (Hons), DPsych (Clinical), MAPS

I am a clinical psychologist and mindfulness consultant. I specialise in using mindfulness and other effective evidence-based interventions to treat a range of issues, including:

  • Stress, anxiety & depression
  • Eating issues
  • Addictive behaviours
  • Sleep problems
  • Academic/work performance
  • Relationship difficulties

At Monash University, I am leading a university-wide mindfulness approach with Campus Community Division, embedding mindfulness in the core curriculum for students and delivering programs to enhance the wellbeing and performance of students and staff. This contributed to Monash being awarded the World Health Organisation’s “World’s Healthiest Workplace” award in 2017.

In conjunction with Monash University, I co-created the free Mindfulness For Wellbeing And Peak Performance online course, which has had over 230,000 users so far and in 2015 was ranked in the Top 50 Free Online Courses Of All Time by Class Central.

I helped to develop Smiling Mind, a free smartphone and web app with over 2 million downloads. As an ambassador and trainer for Smiling Mind, I am working toward seeing mindfulness in the Australian school curriculum by 2020.

I am the author of three books, The Art Of Mindful OrigamiMindful Learning, and Mindful Relationships (all published by Exisle/Shambala). I have also written numerous research articles in peer-reviewed journals and regularly feature in mainstream TV, radio and print media.

Since 2002, I have supported a growing number of businesses, educational institutions, sporting and community organisations to use mindfulness to enhance their wellbeing and productivity. My clients include:
